Ice Festival
Mongolia’s famous ice festival is a traditional annual winter event taking place at the beginning of March on Lake Khovsgol in northern Mongolia. The festival takes place on a frozen lake that is covered with more than one metre of thick ice and includes ice sculptures and various traditional sporting activities during two days, including an ice marathon, ice wrestling, horse sledding, ice driving competition and more. During the festival you will have a unique opportunity to see local people dressed in traditional winter clothes – fur hats and winter deels. The closing ceremony of the ice festival will be celebrated with fireworks. An excellent opportunity for fabulous photography.
