Day 1. Beijing
Our driver and a guide will meet you at the airport arrivals lounge. Today we will visit an old Beijing district, called a ‘Hutong neighbourhood’, and enjoy a rickshaw ride.
Day 2. Beijing
In the morning we will visit one of the most famous squares in the world - Tiananmen. After, we will tour the famous Imperial palace, the Forbidden City and the magnificent Summer Palace. Finally, our second day will be topped off with a traditional roast duck dinner.
Day 3. Beijing
Today we will travel to the best preserved section of The Great Wall of China. After, we will travel to the Olympic Green and park built in Beijing for 2008 for the Summer Olympics. In the evening you will witness one of Beijing’s finest Acrobatic Shows.
Day 4. Beijing
Today we will visit the Temple of Heaven and The Lama Temple, or the Palace of Peace, which is a study centre for Tibetan Buddhism and it is home to a priceless collection including a statue of Maytreya: the future Buddha.
Day 5. Beijing
Time-out to find your own Beijing: visit the malls, wander the parks, see some art of just discover where locals hang out.

Transfer to the airport with our driver from the hotel lobby.

Day 1. Beijing
Our driver and a guide will meet you at the airport arrivals lounge with a “China & Beyond” signboard. Today we will visit an old Beijing district, called a ‘Hutong neighbourhood’ located by Shichahai Lake. Hutongs are city areas dominated by alleys and traditional courtyard residences, dating back to the 13th century. Our guided rickshaw ride means immersion into this bygone era. (D)
Day 2. Beijing
One of the most famous squares in the world, located in the centre of Beijing, Tiananmen is the fourth largest city square in the world (440,000 square metres) and it stands at the Tiananmen Gate separating the square from the Forbidden City. Many key Chinese events took place here, including the declaration of the People’s Republic of China by Mao Zedong in 1949. After, we will visit the famous Imperial palace and the Forbidden City to see the ancient wooden structures and the former home of the Chinese emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties (1420 until 1924). In the afternoon you will visit the magnificent Summer Palace which combines the natural beauty of the lakes and hills with the art of architects and designers. Finally, our second day will be topped off with a traditional roast duck dinner. (B,L,D)
Day 3. Beijing
Today we will travel 70 kilometres (44 miles) north of Beijing, to the best preserved section of The Great Wall of China. This section –‘Badaling Great Wall’ situated in Yanqing County - was built during the Ming dynasty in the 16th century. The Great Wall is included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. After, for a taste of modern China, we will travel to the Olympic Green and park built in Beijing for 2008 for the Summer Olympics. In the evening you will witness one of Beijing’s finest Acrobatic Shows. (B,L,D)
Day 4. Beijing
Today we will visit the Temple of Heaven – a fascinating collection of temples and altars spread inside a park in central Beijing. Built for the emperor, you will see that the northern wall represents the sky, and the southern wall represents earth. The tiled roof is the colour of heaven too: dark blue. The Lama Temple, or the Palace of Peace, is a study centre for Tibetan Buddhism and it is home to a priceless collection including a statue of Maytreya: the future Buddha. (B,L,D)
Day 5. Beijing
Time-out to find your own Beijing: visit the malls, wander the parks, see some art of just discover where locals hang out. Alternatively we can book an excursion for you. (B)
Day 6. Beijing
Transfer to the airport with our driver from the hotel lobby. (B)
